The Process

This stainless steel grizzly shown prowling
a lake in Northern Minnesota stands more than
9' high and weighs nearly 1000
pounds.

Jeff Kreitz designs many
of his sculptures on a commission basis.
He will talk with you about your ideas,
colors, themes, and location.  Based on that information, he makes a sketch
for your approval before he begins the sculpting process.

After you approve the sketch and make a deposit, he will begin to sculpt.  If required,
Jeff will also make a small model for a
nominal fee.

Jeff uses his imagination, skills as a metal craftsman, and talent as an artist to create magnificent metal sculptures.  Knowledge of the characteristics and properties of brass, bronze, aluminum, copper, steel, and stainless steel is used in the creation of each unique design.

Before creating this grizzly bear sculpture, Jeff met with the clients, visited the site location, and then submitted the sketch shown below for approval.  After the sketch of the grizzly bear was approved and a deposit was made, Jeff selected a boulder to go with the sculpture and began the process of sculpting a metal grizzly bear.  After completing the design, Jeff and his team installed the artwork on site.

Jeff started with a sketch of the metal sculpture for approval.
After client approval, he began the meticulous task of building the grizzly's skeleton using hundreds of pieces of metal that were weldedtogether to form the shape.

After the metal skeleton was finished, Jeff welded the outer skin,
grinded the rough joints, and polished and burnished the metal.
With a few details left to finish, like these claws that are the
size of one's hand, Jeff finished the metal sculpture of the
bear.  It was time for installation at the site.
The site was prepared for installation of the sculpture.
After picking out a boulder for the client, Jeff finalized the
install.
